Terms of service
Last updated: 19 October 2026
These terms are between you and Faran Mahmood, the independent developer operating Turnover from Lahore, Pakistan ("we", "us"). They cover the Turnover app and related services. Contact hello@useturnover.com for support, complaints and legal notices. Creating an account means accepting these terms. Our privacy policy explains data use; it is not blanket consent to optional processing.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement. Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials and promptly report suspected unauthorised use. You are responsible for your own use and authorised activity, not automatically for every event caused by a security failure outside your control. Do not impersonate a housemate or create records falsely presented as theirs.
The service and its limits
Turnover organises shared-house deposits, assets, expenses, memberships, evidence and proposed settlements. Calculations depend on user-entered dates, amounts, allocation rules and status. Review inputs, included and excluded items, rounding and assumptions before relying on a result.
Turnover is not a bank, payment service, landlord, tenancy-deposit protection scheme, debt collector, lawyer, accountant, mediator or tribunal. It does not hold or transfer housemates' funds, independently verify records, establish ownership or determine liability. It does not replace a tenancy agreement, statutory deposit procedure, legal notice or deadline. Obtain appropriate independent advice for disputes or questions about legal, tax or financial obligations.
What an agreement in the app means
"Mark agreed" records a member's confirmation, not separately verified signatures from everyone. Use it only after everyone affected has reviewed and actually agreed to the recorded amounts, and only if you are authorised to record that confirmation. Turnover cannot verify that representation. Buy-in confirmation records review of a preview; it does not enrol another person or authorise a charge.
A saved or exported statement is a record of information and the indicated status at that time. It is not proof of payment, an independent valuation, a court order or a certification that no other claims exist. Excluding disputed items from a total does not dismiss or waive those disputes. Changing or reopening a record does not itself cancel anyone's separate agreement or legal rights.
People's words and actions, including electronic records, may have legal effect under applicable law. These terms do not declare that agreements between housemates are always non-binding. Turnover is not a party to those agreements and cannot bind a person who has not agreed. Resolve disagreements with the people involved or through appropriate professional or legal channels.
Your content and other people's information
You retain your rights in content you submit. You give us the limited permission necessary to host, store, reproduce, format, transmit and display it to operate the requested service, including through service providers. This permission is not a transfer of ownership or a licence to use private house records in advertising. Retention after deletion is subject to the privacy policy and law.
Submit only content you are entitled to use and share. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information, secretly obtained intimate images or other people's credentials. Explain relevant sharing to people whose information you enter. Members, including historical members, can see shared house records; valid invitation holders can preview limited house details before joining. Members may export or share copies, which cannot necessarily be recalled.
AI assistance
Optional scanning and drafting disclose the selected content to the AI provider the app names when it asks for your permission (Claude by Anthropic from the version after 1.0; Turnover 1.0 uses Google Gemini only until that version is released), as explained in the privacy policy and applicable prompts, once you allow that feature. If you decline, manual entry or a non-AI message is available. AI can misread receipts, invent details or produce unsuitable wording. Check and edit each result before saving or sending it. Generated text is not legal advice or another person's consent. Manual entry is available; a paid AI feature does not guarantee accuracy or unlimited usage.
Prices, subscriptions and settlement passes
The store purchase screen shows the product, price, currency, billing period, applicable taxes and any offer before you authorise payment. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through the store. Follow the cancellation deadline shown by Apple or Google; uninstalling the app, leaving a house or deleting an account does not cancel billing. Cancellation normally ends future renewals, with access governed by the paid period and applicable store rules.
A house subscription applies to the identified house and its eligible members, not automatically to every house the purchaser joins. A settlement pass is a one-time credit for unlocking one identified settlement, not a subscription or unlimited export access. Check the selected house and settlement before purchase. Feature and usage limits are shown in the app.
Use Restore for eligible store purchases; consumable credits may depend on the linked Turnover record rather than store restoration. Do not purchase again just because access is delayed; contact support. Refund and cancellation requests generally start with the store. We will assist with entitlement problems and fulfil responsibilities that apply to us. Nothing here removes mandatory refund, withdrawal, repair or other consumer remedies. We do not impose a universal "no refunds" rule.
Price or subscription changes are subject to applicable store notice, consent and cancellation rules. Any trial terms must be shown at checkout; these terms do not themselves promise a trial.
Permitted use and reports
We give you a limited, non-exclusive licence to use Turnover for its intended purposes while you comply with these terms. We retain rights in our software and branding; third-party and open-source components remain subject to their own licences.
Do not harass, threaten, discriminate against or defame others; post unlawful or infringing material; fabricate evidence; misuse invites; access records without permission; interfere with security; introduce malware; or commercially copy or resell the service without permission. Restrictions on reverse engineering do not remove rights granted by mandatory law or an applicable open-source licence.
Report abusive content, privacy violations, unauthorised access or copyright concerns to hello@useturnover.com, identifying the relevant record and issue without distributing sensitive material unnecessarily. We may investigate and restrict or remove content or access when reasonably necessary. We are not an emergency service; contact local emergency services for immediate danger.
Suspension, deletion and service changes
We may restrict access for a material breach, security threat, fraud, legal requirement or serious misuse. Where practicable and lawful, we give a reason and an opportunity to resolve the issue. Urgent protective action may happen first. Contact support to contest a restriction. We do not use suspension to avoid legal obligations.
You can stop using Turnover and request deletion through the app or support. Account deletion disconnects the login from retained memberships; it does not automatically erase identifying information in shared descriptions, historical snapshots or evidence. See the privacy policy for retained data and rights requests. Deletion does not settle debts, withdraw another person's claims or cancel a store subscription.
Maintenance and technical faults can interrupt availability. We may change features for security, legal or operational reasons, but these terms do not give an unrestricted right to remove a paid service without an appropriate remedy. For a material withdrawal, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable and address continued access, export and any remedies required by law. Keep your own copies of records needed for important deadlines.
Responsibility and consumer protections
We will provide the service with the care and skill required by law. We cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free third-party systems or that user-supplied records and AI drafts are correct. That does not excuse our own breach of contract or legal duties.
To the extent the applicable law permits, we are not responsible for losses not reasonably foreseeable from our breach, or for business losses arising from use of this consumer shared-house service. Housemates remain responsible for their own representations, agreements and payments; this does not exclude any separate liability we may have for our conduct.
Nothing excludes or restricts liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, deliberate wrongdoing, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Mandatory rights concerning digital content, services, privacy, refunds and remedies remain available. We do not require you to indemnify us for our own fault.
App stores
Apple and Google are not parties to your housemate arrangements. Applicable store terms govern your store account, payment and distribution of the app. For iOS, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the app licence unless a valid custom licence is supplied in the store. These service terms do not replace mandatory store terms or imply endorsement by either store.
Changes, law and disputes
We will identify material changes and provide reasonable advance notice where practicable; urgent legal or security changes may need earlier effect. Changes do not retrospectively remove accrued rights. Where express acceptance is required, continued use alone is not enough. You can stop using the service, cancel renewal and exercise applicable remedies if a material change is unacceptable.
Pakistan law governs these terms except where mandatory rules require otherwise. If you are a consumer, you retain the mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings in courts available under your local law. There is no mandatory arbitration clause or class-action waiver. Contact support to seek an informal resolution, but doing so is not a prerequisite to an available legal remedy.
If a provision cannot be enforced, the rest applies only insofar as it can fairly operate without it. A failure to enforce a term is not a permanent waiver. If Turnover moves to a company we form to operate it, we will tell you in advance, and your accrued consumer and privacy rights carry over.
